Christine Marchuska Founder and Visionary of cmarchuska and NYC Entrepreneur

Christine Marchuska was fed up with expensive designer clothing and other trendy duds made out of non-sustainable fabric blends.  She thought, “how hard could it be to make fashionable clothing with eco-friendly fabrics that the masses could afford?”

Christine MarchuskaChristine became less enthralled with her day job of selling synthetic collateralized debt obligations (yeah, don’t worry no one knows what that is) and more involved in sewing classes and questioning the fashion industry experts.  Her loving parents thought sewing was a good skill to acquire and bought Christine her first sewing machine.  She started modifying her conservative Wall Street clothing into chic hipster gear.  She also ramped up on the garment industry through fashion courses and various literature.  Christine gradually developed some early designs and business plans for a chic women's line of sustainable clothing.

Born and raised in upstate New York, Christine attended  Cornell University.  After graduation, she moved to the big apple, New York City, to pursue a career in finance.  She started off as a day trader at proprietary trading firm in lower Manhattan.  Six months later she joined  Morgan Stanley.  After passing the CFA level I exam and applying and getting in to the MBA program at Georgetown University, she decided to pursue a role at CIBC.  However, her duties at Morgan Stanley were clearly not over as she returned to the investment bank after her stint at CIBC.  In April 2008 the credit markets took a turn for the worst and restructuring on Wall Street was inevitable.  So Christine felt it was time for a change and focused in on her upstate entrepreneurial roots.  Christine and her brother, Justin started Marchuska tees, but Christine still felt there was more she wanted to pursue in fashion.  She wanted to create more girlie items such as chic sustainable dresses for women.

Thus, in November 2008, cmarchuska was born and now Christine’s time is spent roaming around the garment district and networking with the fashion crowd.  When Christine is not comparing buttons and fabric blends, she enjoys time with her friends in her favorite city, New York.
